ANN DEMEULEMEESTER Tattoo Print Leggings, SS14 Runway
From Ann Demeulemeester’s Spring 2014 collection — the final collection created under her direction before stepping away from her eponymous house — these striking leggings feature the brand’s distinctive tattoo-inspired print.
The elongated black motif runs along the legs like ink on skin, combining ornamental lines with dark florals. Referred to internally as the “Horta” motif, the design echoes the flowing lines of Art Nouveau ornament.
Crafted in a lightweight stretch fabric, the piece sits close to the body, creating a second-skin effect that enhances the tattoo-like print.
The tattoo leggings appeared throughout the Spring 2014 runway, styled across multiple looks as a recurring element of the collection:

About Ann Demeulemeester
Ann Demeulemeester is one of the original members of the influential Antwerp Six, the group of designers who reshaped fashion in the late 1980s with a more intellectual and poetic approach to design. Her work is known for its romantic darkness, fluid tailoring and literary sensibility — often exploring the tension between fragility and strength, masculinity and femininity. Today, her designs remain highly sought after by collectors for their unmistakable mood and timeless avant-garde spirit.
