MATTHEW MILLER Caravaggio / David & Goliath Coat
A one-off canvas sample from Matthew Miller’s AW16 collection inspired by Caravaggio’s David with the Head of Goliath. Printed with fragmented artwork across the back and constructed with Miller’s signature deconstructed tailoring, the piece blends classical imagery with contemporary conceptual design.
This sample features intentional seam-breaking details — designed to open at stress points as the garment is worn. One sleeve has the outer canvas layer intentionally split, while the inner lining remains fully intact. Originally purchased at a sample sale in London, this is the only known version of this specific configuration.

About Matthew Miller
Matthew Miller is a London-based designer known for merging fine-art references, political commentary, and deconstruction into his tailored silhouettes. His AW16 collection reinterpreted Caravaggio’s dramatic chiaroscuro through a contemporary lens, using fragmented prints and disrupted construction techniques to question the boundary between art and garment. This sample captures that concept in its purest form — rare, experimental, and entirely unique.
